Ouch!

I have 15 pounds and 12 ounces of pure man-child. He seems to be growing at a much faster pace than our girls did, with 4 teeth at only 4 months old! He is a joy. Everyone was right about that whole mother-son bond thing. There's just one problem.

He seems to have taken up a habit of soothing his aching gums during our nursing sessions. It's a cycle. He's in pain, I'm in pain. He's in pain, I'm in pain.

I've heard of pain bringing people closer together, but somehow this kind seems more likely to drive us apart.

  1. I can't believe how big he is! And so cute, too.
I hope the biting/gnawing stops soon. I've had brief problems with it, but I generally just quit nursing (for that session) when they do it, or give a little flick on the cheek - not quite enough to hurt, but enough to surprise them and show them that they can't do that to me. Making them stop eating tends to work well when they're young - it's not worth it to keep biting mom if she's not going to feed you anymore. :)

  2. Thanks Katie! I think you're right about stopping the feeding session!

  3. Ahh,I love the new setup.ALl the best with that. It's bittersweet reading about breastfeeding trials because I never got the opportunity to do so and I was filled with regret-had breast surgery when I was 13.I still feel sad and it hurts when I'm bombarded with 'breast is best.' Silly, because I didn't 'choose' not to do it,but knowing it's the best and that I couldn't do it...Anyway,I've totally gone off-topic!I hope the cycle stops! For both your sakes.
