Ministry at Home

"In every generation, mothers must answer the call to be what no one else can be, to do what no one else can do for their children.
It isn’t that mothers can’t do many other things, but if they refuse to accept their calling as a mother, some child ends up shortchanged, and the empty space that mother leaves echoes for generations.

Mothers are neither the cause of all of society’s ills, nor the saviors of the nation. But the future of society does depend in part on what we do with the children under our care. What calling could be more significant or more glorifying to God?"
~Jean Fleming in A Mother's Heart

How are you cultivating your Ministry at Home?

  1. i can't imagine myself leaving them to be raised by someone other than myself (and hubby) it would be just so plain weird to me.One mom wrote about how when she took her child to nursery the other day two kids were being beaten up by some other kids and this made her child scared..But she eventually calmed down and left her.I'm not condemning her at all,but I think that would be hard on me.I feel so sorry for women who want to stay home but can't do it.It's sad.

  2. Thandi- Recently, I have thought about those very women, mothers who actually want to stay home with their children, but cannot because of various reasons(husband doesn't approve, financial issues, etc).

When I stop to think about the fact that it is a privilege and a blessing to be able to stay home and raise my children, I feel differently about the daily things that seem so mundane(cooking, cleaning, laundry etc).

I heard a speaker say recently, we shouldn't think negatively like "Oh, I HAVE to take care of these kids all day", we should think "Oh I GET to take care of these kids all day."

    That really stuck with me.

  4. I love it when I hear young mothers like yourself and Thandi counting it a privilege to stay home. Trust me you will not regret it!
I love the benefits I'm reaping for sacrificing by being home. I embrace every season of this precious life God has given me :)
Btw- My daughter Ruth is getting married on May 22. She turns 20 in April. Yes she's young, but we are so proud of her. I'm encouraging her to get a blog so that she could meet other young women like you :)

  5. Oh Sandra! Congratulations on your daughter getting married!

I was 21 when Kenneth and I got married(but I was ready:) I don't regret it and I actually think getting married young helped me to begin to cultivate a heart for family before I got a chance to value my own independence and paycheck more.

Thank you for your words and sharing you experience. They are so encouraging!
